Shawna Vercher, Executive Producer of Fearless Voice Network, has been recognized by Authority Magazine as one of the “Heroes of the COVID Crisis”. The series is dedicated to highlighting people who stepped up to make a difference during the COVID-19 pandemic. The magazine focused on her work to engage people globally on social justice issues.

“When the pandemic hit we made a HUGE adjustment and decided to shift our focus to web-friendly content to connect people. Our goal was to engage them in a meaningful and positive way from their living rooms,” said Vercher. “Whether it was showing people how to vote safely, helping to advance cannabis social justice initiatives, or bringing people access to mental healthcare, our stories are centered on educating people and giving them small but meaningful ways to participate.”

The initiatives of the Fearless Voice Network caught the attention of Authority Magazine, a publication devoted to sharing thought leadership featuring people who are authorities in Business, Pop Culture, Wellness, Social Impact, and Tech. Authority Magazine leverages its own platform to draw out stories that are both empowering and actionable. Other interview subjects have included Jewel, Kerry Washington, Marc Cuban, Seth Godin, and Shaquille O’Neal.

In her interview with Authority, Shawna Vercher spoke candidly about the challenges both businesses and individuals were facing as they attempted to do social good during a pandemic. She also shared some of her own strategies and business lessons she learned the hard way.

“If someone is new to activism, we want them to stay involved and optimistic. That means helping them to avoid pitfalls and mistakes that we have already made — and projects like this one where knowledge is shared is part of that gentle mentoring. To newly energized youth and the young at heart, I would encourage you to stay committed to your values and connected to the human side of your cause, while constantly searching for new and adapted methods to achieve your goals.”
